The Minister has released the Agritourism Fact Sheet to provide guidance around the options for agritourism.

Significant improvements for agritourism were introduced with the approval of the State Planning Provisions in 2017.

The agricultural sector across the majority of the State is already benefitting from these reforms, and with the few remaining rural councils soon to come under the Tasmanian Planning Scheme these will be even more available.

To ensure these existing reforms are clearly understood, the Fact Sheet guides rural producers on the different options for agritourism, and other retail and hospitality activities.

Further changes to the planning scheme rules are also proposed, with the terms of reference soon to be released for the draft SPP amendment 05/2024 - Agriculture worker accommodation.
