There are two main ways that the Tasmanian Planning Policies (TPPs) will be implemented. One is through the regional land use strategies (RLUS) and the second is through the Tasmanian Planning Scheme (TPS).

The red outlined box shows how the TPPs fit within the broader Resource Management and Planning System..

The making of the TPPs triggers a review of the three regional strategies to bring them into compliance. It also causes a review of the State Planning Provisions (SPP) within the Tasmanian Planning Scheme, and every subsequent amendment to the Local Provisions Schedules (LPS) must be consistent with the TPPs.

The TPPs do not apply to individual development applications other than Major Project proposals.
