Macquarie Point Stadium Assessment
Background
A proposal by the Crown in Right of Tasmania (the proponent) for the development of a multipurpose stadium at Macquarie Point was declared a Project of State significance, by order (the order) of the Governor. The order was approved by both Houses of the Tasmanian Parliament on 8 November 2023 and took effect on 9 November 2023.
A Ministerial Direction from the Premier dated 16 October 2023 directed the Commission to undertake an integrated assessment of the Macquarie Point Multipurpose Stadium project (the proposed project), in accordance with the State Policies and Projects Act 1993 (the Act).
The Commission publicly exhibited the Draft Guidelines for the Macquarie Point Multipurpose Stadium assessment between 4 December 2023 - 8 January 2024. The Guidelines were finalised, dated 16 February 2024.
