The Minister has declared the proposed Cellars Hill Wind Farm as a major project. This is under section 60O of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 (LUPAA). The declaration took effect on the 31st day of January 2025, and was gazetted on 5 February 2025.
The proposed wind farm near Bothwell, comprises development of a 350 MW windfarm with up to 56 wind turbines, a battery energy storage system (BESS) connected to an existing 220kV transmission line, and associated infrastructure, spread over 8460 hectares.
The proposal will now be assessed by the Tasmanian Planning Commission.
