The Tasmanian Planning Policies (the TPPs) have been made by the Minister on 12 November 2025.
This is the first time that Tasmania has had a set of integrated land use planning policies in its history. The aims of the TPPs will implemented through the regional land use strategies and the Tasmanian Planning Scheme. There are seven policies addressing:
- Settlement
- Environmental Values
- Environmental Hazards
- Sustainable Economic Development
- Physical Infrastructure
- Cultural Heritage, and
- Planning Processes
There is a transition period between their making and when the TPPs will come into effect. Their effective date will be 1 July 2026.
