The Minister has released the draft Land Use Planning and Approvals (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2026 (the draft Bill) for a 6 week consultation period.

The draft Bill proposes amendments to the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 and the Local Government (Building and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1993. The proposed amendments are in response to issues identified by councils, the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT) and the SPO that are considered to require more urgent attention and which typically address matters requiring clarification or improved processes.
