Review of Bushfire Prone Areas Code

The State Planning Office and the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) are working on a joint review of the Bushfire-Prone Areas Hazard Code in the SPPs. This project will consider improvements to the application, operation and drafting of the code.

In the first stage, the TFS held workshops in September 2025 to discuss key themes identified in the SPPs scoping consultation. More information on the workshops and a summary report is available on the TFS website https://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colBushfireInformationPublications

The project will inform any amendments to the SPPs and coordinated requirements under the building control system.
