The Minister for Housing and Planning declared the Southern Tasmania Regional Land Use Strategy 2026 (STRLUS) on 11 September 2026, by notice in the Tasmanian Government Gazette and pursuant to section 5A(3) of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.
STRLUS 2026 now supersedes the STRLUS 2010 - 2035, first declared in October 2011.
Preparation of STRLUS 2026 commenced in late 2023. It has involved a collaborative process between the Tasmanian Government and the councils of the Southern Tasmania, and included extensive consultation with infrastructure and service providers, a range of stakeholders and the community.
