The Minister has directed the Tasmanian Planning Commission to commence its assessment of draft amendment 01/2026 of the State Planning Provisions (SPPs).
The draft amendment 01/2026 proposes to increase the allowable gross floor area for a secondary residence from 60m2 to 90m2, and further clarify the requirements for secondary residences (ancillary dwellings or granny flats).
The Tasmanian Planning Commission is publicly exhibiting the draft amendment 01/2026 from 10 June to 22 July 2026 on their website.
The Commission will then undertake an assessment of the draft amendment, including holding public hearings, and provide a report to the Minister.
